Their new bundle of joy is named Billie Beatrice. The Grey’s Anatomy star, 37, and Gayheart, 38, became parents for the firs time when they welcomed their daughter earlier this month.

Before Billie Beatrice’s birth, Dane said that Gayheart wanted to wait and see [their new arrival] before deciding on a name. Dane previously said his wife wanted to “wait to see [the baby]” before picking a name. “You want to make sure that the name sticks.”

At the Oscars last weekend, Carey hit the red carpet alluding that “something special” is about to happen. Was she talking about her next move professionally following her acclaimed turn in “Precious” perhaps?

“I’m talking to a director about three movies,” she said. She then took a very ‘pregnant’ pause and addded, “There’s also something special on the way. I can’t say anymore.”

Her appearance at the Independent Film Awards also hinted she was pregnant. Her figure was definitely a little fuller than normal, especially the upper half which is a common pregnancy symptom. Mariah also refused all alcohol while at the event, drinking water throughout.

Inez Tenenbaum, head of the CPSC said yesterday that her agency is getting ready to issue a general warning to the public, likely to go out this week, about the slings. “We know of too many deaths in these slings and we now know the hazard scenarios for very small babies,” said Tenenbaum. “So, the time has come to alert parents and caregivers.”

What seemed to be the perfect solution for new mothers has become a nightmare for some. Baby slings are used to sooth new babies and keep them warm in an environment much like the womb. The device is worn around the neck and straps across the parent’s chest to keep the baby cocooned in a warm fabric sling. Another big seller for this product was that it allows parents to carry their baby and free up their hands and arms.

Two years ago, consumer watchdogs at Consumer Reports raised concerns about baby slings and the injuries caused when children fall out of them. In a follow-up blog post dated last October, the organization warned about a suffocation risk and linked the baby slings (specifically the “SlingRider” by Infantino) to at least seven infant deaths. They also warn that the shape of these products causes newborn babies, who have very little control of their heads and necks, to bury their heads in their chests which can restrict their ability to breathe. They worry, too, with the child being suffocated by the parents clothing if they were to turn their heads toward the parent’s chest. In 2007, Infantino’s SlingRider was recalled because of its plastic sliders on the slings strap, but none have been recalled due to suffocation issues.

The SlingRider is a “bag style” sling that wraps around the parent’s neck and cradles the baby in a curved or “C-like” position (see pictured.) The concern with this style of baby sling is that the curved position can cause the baby, which has little head and neck control in the early months, to flop its head forward, chin-to-chest — restricting the baby’s ability to breathe. Another potential danger: the baby can turn its face toward mom’s chest or belly and smother in the parent’s clothing.

Infantino’s “SlingRider” was recalled in 2007 for problems with the plastic sliders on the sling’s strap. But there have been no recalls because of a suffocation risk. It will be interesting to see hear if the CPSC singles out this particular baby sling in their upcoming warning, or if they choose to warn parents about the potential dangers of babywearing in general.

Is Lindsay Lohan as famous as stars like Cher, Whoopi, Madonna or Oprah? Our guess is no. But that isn’t stopping Lindsay Lohan from thinking that her name–her first name–is as big as theirs. While she might have a nickname–LiLo–as big as the J.Lo moniker, Lindsay is thinking bigger. How big? She’s now suing financial company E-Trade. Known for their adorable baby commercials that air during the Super Bowl, Lindsay Lohan sees herself in the ads and is enraged to the tune of $100 million.

The milkaholic boyfriend-stealing baby Lindsay named in the ad is supposed to be Lindsay Lohan? We’re not buying it over here. And we’re not exactly sure why Lohan would want to be identified with the words ‘Lindsay’ and anything ending in holic, but she sees herself in this commercial.

Lohan’s lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, says that the actress has the same single-name recognition as Oprah or Madonna. “Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit,” Ovadia said. “They used the name Lindsay. They’re using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn’t they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody’s talking about it and saying it’s Lindsay Lohan.”

Well, not sure who everyone is. We at Baby Lifestyles didn’t see the connection until Lindsay put it in our heads, perhaps a show of her brilliance at marketing herself because now we do see it. Did anyone else put that connection together before her lawsuit?
