A Super Hero Comic Book Themed Korean Dol First Birthday Party

Photographer Cathy Murai went up, up and away when she photographed a comic book style superhero themed first birthday party with Korean Dol.

Tables were decorated in bright, vivid comic book primary colors of red, yellow and blue, with superhero emblem capes for the guests as chair covers.

Comic book staples like word clouds and pow and zap explosions were used as decor and menu cards. They were even used to decorate the doljabi items!

Super Jonah’s mortal family posed together with the cake at the main table with a burst of balloons as a backdrop.

Even the photo booth was given the comic book treament!

Prior to the party, she got to photograph the birthday boy, Jonah, who transformed into ‘Super Jonah’ at a red phone booth. Cathy even created a superhero cityscape backdrop for him at her studio. “It was so much fun doing this superhero theme session with Jonah prior to his birthday party.  His parents picked some images for his birthday party invites, as well as decorations for his party.
