Color Me Happy! A Rainbow Themed Birthday Party

If you fell in love with Grace’s pink prima ballerina party that Amanda from Invite Me made for her daughter, then you’ll swoon for what her business partner Simone planned for her own baby girl’s birthday! Simone’s darling daughter Tessa is colorful, bright and cheery and so it was only fitting she threw her a rainbow party for her fourth birthday. “True to the theme, the heavens opened and a downpour the morning of our afternoon soiree ensured it became an indoor affair rather than the planned outdoor occasion – eeek!” A last minute scramble inside with lots of shuffled chairs, rearranged tables and goodies now safely under cover saw Simone miraculously get everything in place in time for the 2 o’clock afternoon tea.

“I love that rainbow parties are in vogue at the moment and wanted to explore the gorgeousness of rainbows and their vibrant colors.”
White was chosen as the base colour as she was mindful of the potential for an explosion of too much colour. “I subscribe to the K.I.S.S. technique (Keep It Simple, Stupid!) and worked hard to make sure we struck a nice balance.”

A graphic designer by trade, Simone knows exactly how the invitation was going to look – like a gorgeous white fluffy cloud sitting underneath a beautiful rainbow. She was sure to design a range of party printables that would tie everything in together, including party circles, tags, chocolate and drink bottle wrappers, all in bright rainbow, of course!
The cake was squared and iced by Simone’s good friend and neighbor, and she actually helped out with some of the ‘brick-work’ and decorated the cake herself with colorful Tiny Tots – miniature boiled candies.

“The food consisted of rainbow jelly, with each layer separated by delicious coconut jelly, rainbow drops (coloured candy), heavenly marshmallow cups, color me happy chocolate bars and many other colourful treats.”
Tessa loved every second of it. From the treasure hunt for gold covered chocolate coins (which all needed to placed in the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow of balloons to be shared evenly between guests later on) right through to the rainbow of colors pass the parcel.

Little guests were presented with rainbow lollipops in their rainbow striped candy boxes on their way out and everyone went home tired, but colored happy.
Thanks for sharing the colorful day with us!
