Girl’s First Monster MonSTAR first birthday party

Most monster parties are for boys, but Mindy of A Day with Lil Mama didn’t see it that way. While planning the first birthday party for a friend’s daughter, she asked them about a theme. Since their little girl didn’t end up being the little princess/angel they thought she would, they came up with a monster theme, or more appropriately, a monSTAR theme.
Mindy put a feminine spin on the monster theme by using brighter colors like pink, green, purple, orange and a little blue. A pink backdrop with purple letters spelling her daughter’s name gave it a perfect girly touch for this first birthday party.
The entrance of the party greeted guests with hanging yarn pom monsters. “They are super easy to make and super cute!” Yarn and googly eyes carried the colorful theme throughout the party.
Mom Kaye wanted the dessert table to be the focus for the kids, with plenty of colorful treats for everyone to enjoy. Mindy created a backdrop with a bundle of yarn pom poms hung with tape. She cut strands to the length of the backdrop and attached each strand at the top and the bottom.
The lollipop holder was a tall, long rectangle vase messily wrapped with yarn with googly eyes glued on. The vase was filled with floral foam blocks to support the lollipops and shredded paper filled the top to hide the Styrofoam. The cake pop holders were made similarly. Three different sized Styrofoam cones were wrapped with yarn and with googly eyes glued on. Cake pops were stuck inside the Styrofoam evenly around the cones to distribute the weight.

The Photo Booth was another activity for the kids. The monSTAR’s dad made lots of props and a disposal camera was set out for the kiddies to take pictures. The polka dot backdrop is just wrapping paper taped up. Love those yarn pom monsters!
Thanks Mindy for sharing this little angel’s monSTAR party!
