An Elegant Joint Baby Shower for Two Boys on the Way

This summer a few of Chara of Sew Click Create‘s friends have been expecting, so like any(truly amazing!) good friend, she offered to throw two of the expectant mother’s a baby shower. Since the two were close friends, she turned it into a joint baby shower to celebrate two baby boys on the way.

Chara decorated with onesies and clotheslines on the wall to give a cute baby feel to the shower. “I wanted to have the shower be sophisticated too though, so I chose decorations and details that would reflect that. I placed little blue pails along the walk with floating flowers, cute crepe paper style lanterns hanging outside with balloons to mark the house, flowers to dress up the house inside and out, and for fun a few cheesy “it’s a boy” signs, because what shower would be complete without such.”

The surrounding Seattle area has wonderful farmer’s markets and places to buy bouquets of flowers, so Chara picked up several mixed bouquets the day before the party and one bouquet of just daisies. The daisies were used to float in the little blue pails along the walk and decorated the house/patio with the mixed bouquets and more daisies. “I love flowers, so I just pick bouquets that are complimentary colors to my home or neutral.”

A lovely spread of food was served that several friends contributed to. “Since one of the mothers was from India and the other from the States, we had an amazing variety of foods including authentic Indian dishes, cupcakes, pasta salads, and other goodies…” A cute card box was perfect for each of the expectant moms to keep cards and keepsakes in from the shower.

The activity of the day was a onesie and bib decorating station. “I cut out a bunch of appliqués ahead of time for guests to iron on and also had a few iron on decals & fabric markers for decorating. It was a lot of fun to see how guests decorated these! Appliqués tend to look a bit nicer in my opinion and tend to have more of a chance of being used by the mother. I actually had a few leftover onesies that I added appliqués to myself for future gifts down the road.”

Thanks for sharing Chara!
