Transitioning a Baby Nursery for Second Baby in Room

The biggest challenge for interior designer and writer for Flor, Miriam, with transitioning her nursery was that she wanted to keep it as gender neutral as the original nursery, but wanted it to be her daughter’s own personal space to have that was designed just for her.

This is a picture of her nursery just before her son moved in in July of 2009. “The sailboats were eventually hung just above the changing table and did not remain on the window as pictured below. There were some key things that needed to stay in the nursery – namely, the dresser/changing table, crib, bookshelf, rocking chair, radiator cover, window coverings, lampshade and, of course, our awesome FLOR tiles. Keeping that in mind…here’s the nursery now all decked out for our daughter.”

“I decided to go a bit beachy with this room, but not too theme-y in my humble opinion. Perhaps the biggest change in the room was the switch we made in artwork above the bed. Previously, the nursery had three framed travel inspired posters that I had pillaged from a calendar I had on hand. Now there’s a G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S print by the amazing Irene Suchocki that I got on super-awesome sale.”

Obviously, Miriam switched out her children’s names. She also removed the vinyl sticker collage and made a much more refined, but still fun, display that coordinates well with the new beach concept.

Along with a couple new accessories and a DIY’d capiz shell mobile replacing the sailboats, this nursery transition is complete!

Thanks Miriam for sharing your transformation nursery with us!
