Elephants on Parade in this Baby Boy Nursery

Nikki Perisi knew she was having a boy when she began converting her guest room into his elephants on parade nursery. “I absolutely loved the true story about Modoc, the elephant, and a boy. I fell in love with the grey furniture that tied into the elephant theme and then just kept everything simple. I didn’t want it to look too busy. Simple is better sometimes.”

Holden’s room incorporates the feel of elephants without becoming a ‘theme room,” which was a goal of Nikki in design. “Most of those theme nurseries only last until they are toddlers and then it is time for a remodel.  I am able to work with this one as he gets older.”

The floor to ceiling trees are vinyl decals Nikki ordered from Etsy, as well as the elephant fabric. She sewed the extra large jumping pillows and one small one for the crib.  “I love the look of cow rugs and I kept going back and forth thinking, is it wrong to put a real animal hide in my baby’s room? Then I found this one at Ikea.  I couldn’t resist because it was the perfect color and so different then all the others.”

“I love the simple, no clutter and soothing to the eye look.  Not only did I want the Modoc them but I also wanted to bring in the idea of nature.  I also like the modern look with more warmth and coziness.”

Beautiful nursery! I’m considering using the Herman Miller rocking chair – is it comfortable for nursing or purely just nice design etc.?
    Thanks :)
