Nursery Reveal: Cheerful Yellow and Pink Girl’s Space
Baby Lifestyles | Jun 21, 2011 | Comments 3

Expecting a girl, Emily wanted something classic and airy and not at all over powering for her nursery. As the fabric is bright, she knew the wood work would all be white as would the furniture. “Overall I wanted a crisp and clean look,” Emily said. With different ideas for what her daughter Georgia’s room would be, Emily knew she didn’t want a traditional ‘pink’ nursery. This space gets a cheery feel from the yellow sunshine walls. Emily selected Pale Lemon Glidden paint.

While Emily did not set out to do Georgia’s nursery room on a budget, repurposing, gifts and DIY projects meant the room cost a mere $163! Emily’s mother-in-law made the crib bedding from Alexander Henry fabric in Alphonse and Mona pattern. The beautiful mirrors came from an antique store and have been with Emily since she was in college. She gave them a spray paint makeover for the nursery. The furniture was all gifts or hand-me-downs from family and friends.

As the smallest room in the house—with the smallest closet, of course—size became a factor for storage. “To remedy the closet we added another clothing rack and shelf, which is my favorite detail. The white dress was my mom’s and over all I think it is a sweet little detail. The armoire added a ton of storage space and fit nicely on our tiny awkwardly shaped wall. I also use the crib as diaper storage.

What we love is the jovial vibe Georgia’s nursery gives, which is found in the little details. Whether it’s the cascading bows on her dresser, or the adorable yellow tutu bathing suit (so cute), you know Georgia is going to be one happy little lady. Thanks Emily for sharing this happy nursery with us.
