Going with our apple inspiration and knowing this was Lisa’s first baby, we just knew Baby Girl Gavin was sure to be the apple of her eye!”

While apples come in both red and green, green was decided on because of the nursery decor. It also happens to be some of mom’s favorite colors. Together with the black the green really pops. “We wanted to celebrate her in the big event as well. What really brought the theme to life was simply the element of incorporating ‘Green apples’ into the tablescape as much as possible. I love using levels and stacking the apples in different ways not only added more of that “apple green” color to our table but it also added in that height as well as texture and dimension!”

Melissa went beyond hosting this baby shower. She also made the apple paintings for Lisa’s nursery. She displayed them at the shower, making them a great accessory on the day. “The paintings were inspired by some artwork we had seen at  Land of Nod but I obviously wanted to put my own spin on them and allow them to coordinate with the shower and nursery decor. One of the biggest goals of mine with baby shower décor is coming up with ideas and choosing to spend money on items that can double as gifts for mom/baby. Things like crepe paper and balloons end up in the trash, but details like this come from the heart and are lasting. They also make for great hostess gifts, which is what we did here. The paintings themselves did not take long at all. For the patterned portions of each fruit, I actually modge-podged scrapbook paper but the rest of the artwork was done with paint.”

The cake was one of the first details Melissa went to work on, knowing it would be a great spotlight for the table being accented with apples. The invitation was designed by a co-hostess. The menu for the day included Blueberry French Toast, Tomato Tart, Cucumber Dill Salad, Fruit with Kahlua Dip, Confetti Pasta Salad. “We also served an Apple Gorgonzola salad and apple cinnamon muffins to tie into the theme of the day.”

“We made up our own game called The Name Drop. A friend lent me this stork basket that we had a great time dressing up and staging for the game. We set out cards and encouraged guests to name Lisa’s baby and drop the cards in the stork. We got a lot of good laughs and it was also a fun memento for the baby book since Lisa kept the name a surprise from us all until the baby was born!” She named her daughter Zoe Annabelle. Thanks Melissa for sharing your beautiful apple shower with us!
