Real Nursery: An Aqua and Owl Oasis For a Baby Girl

Jennifer of World of Dennifer loves aqua. Since it’s such a lovely, bright color, she knew even before she found out the gender that the room would be aqua and that it would be accented it with lots of different colors. “Once I found out we were having a little girl, I found the perfect bedding to coordinate with the room. As I was looking at room decor, I started seeing the cutest whimsical owl items, so I decided to incorporate cute, whimsical owl touches throughout Amaya’s nursery.”
She advises other moms in the planning process to browse websites whose decorating style you love for inspiration and to try to DIY as much as possible, as it normally saves you a lot of money. “I had a lot of the materials I needed for most of the DIY projects for her room on hand already, so I didn’t spend much on the materials for most of the projects. For items you purchase, always sign up to be on company’s email lists so that you can get coupon codes and keep an eye on the items you want so that you can purchase them during a sale or promotion.” Great tip Jennifer!
She had seen tissue poms all over party decor and thought they’d be adorable in her nursery. She hung a red, yellow and pink one over the crib in place of a mobile, as the colors coordinated perfectly with the other accents in the room. The tree is actually a vinyl wall decal. “It took about 2 or so hours start to finish to put the entire, huge thing up, but it’s one of my favorite parts of the room!”
Jennifer made a bold move choosing a glider in chocolate instead of pink.”I fell in love with the glider before I was even pregnant. I had babies on the brain. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I knew we HAD to have that glider! The color was actually being discontinued, so we bought the floor model & got 10% off both pieces.”
“I love DIY’ing stuff, so anything I could make myself, I did! DIY’ing also saves lots of money on something that would otherwise cost a lot of money! I got my inspiration for the dream banner from a design blog that I read. Her banner was larger & the letters were much much more expensive than mine! I was elated to find a beautiful banner on Etsy & bought it immediately. For the birds, I just Googled “bird outline,” then bought some pretty scrapbook paper & used the outlines I got online to cut out bird shapes to “hold” the banner.”
After seeing so many ribbon mobiles, Jennifer got DIY creative and made the mobile hanging above the changing table as an excellent diaper distraction. “It’s one of my favorites and my daughter loves gazing at it while getting her diaper changed.” Jennifer got the ABC and “You Are My Sunshine” prints on Etsy and DIY’ed the shadowbox owl wall art. She simply put extra scrapbook that went well in the room in the other empty frames because it just looks better than what the frames come with. “I plan to eventually switch out the scrapbook paper for baby and family photos.”
Jennifer says she had a lot of fun decorating my baby girl’s nursery. While she’s am happy that she added a lot of whimsy and cute, but more so the functional décor in her room, such as the DIY bow holder, the owl bookends, etc. “It makes such a difference to have very cute, but also very useful pieces in the room.” So true! Thank you Jennifer for sharing your nursery with us!
