Real Baby Shower: Teal and Green Tissue Pom Masterpiece

How do you decorate a party for someone who spends their day surrounded by beautiful floral designs? This was the issue for event planner Brandy of Bliss Event Productions and photographer Tiffany of Adeline and Grace , who came up with a gorgeous gender neutral baby shower for their friend Jennifer. “We wanted to create a brightness to the event and we felt the pastel tones were to expected, so we decided to do go for something different,” Brandy explained. They choose a bright Aloe Green and Teal which would provide a punch of color and then rounded it out with natural hues and browns. “Jennifer is an amazing florist and is around floral all the time, so we tried to stay away from this route for her baby shower centerpieces.”
Brandy aimed to do something a little different and unexpected from floral as the focal centerpieces. “I had used the tissue kissing balls at a baby shower I threw for my sister in law a few months previously. And coincidentally, Tiffany had sent me a link to a picture she loved and thought we could use during the planning process for Jennifer’s shower. We decided to make these at varying sizes in all the shades of the color palette and do a table runner of them down the center of the lunch table.” The tissue kissing balls were one of Brandy’s favorite details. “Jennifer took them home with her and used them to decorate the nursery. We loved that they were there to greet Baby French when she arrived home.”
Being in the Wine Country and working in the wedding and social event industry, Jennifer, Tiffany and Brandy have had the pleasure of working at some of the most amazing venues. ”We really wanted to host the baby shower at a location that was bright, had wonderful food and beverage service and excellent hospitality. We wanted Jennifer to feel pampered and appreciated and loved. We also wanted to focus on the details and leave the food and beverage and service to the experts.” The Carneros Inn provided the perfect location and far exceeded all our expectations.
Brandy and Tiffany entrusted Lynne Johnson and Dana Weeks of Lynne’s Studio in Benicia to come up with a beautiful timeliness invitation for the 15 guests. They were wowed with an iridescent chocolate brown card layered with iridescent ivory cardstock and a beautiful double satin aloe green ribbon sandwiched between them. Guests were able to take these home and use them. “Many have commented that they still have them and they are thriving. And that they also served a dual purpose as a seating card as well. Also, both of these details served as great alternatives to floral décor for a baby shower thrown in honor of a florist. Totally unexpected and yet original.”

The idea for using flower pot place cards goes back to their original floral centerpiece idea of succulents. “Since we opted for the tissue kissing balls as the focal pieces, we wanted to keep the succulents in the mix. We decided little individual succulents potted in miniature silver pots could serve as both a favor and seating card placement. The succulents also played well with the color scheme!” Guests were welcomed with their choice of a mimosa, a glass of sparkling wine or sparking and still waters. After guests were seated for lunch, they were served an Organic Baby Greens salad followed by a Winter Vegetable Quiche. Dessert was kept light and guests were served berries topped with lavender whipped cream.

In between the first course and second course, we passed out a quiz to each guest to test their nursery rhyme knowledge. There were 15 questions taken from classic nursery rhymes and guests were asked to answer as many as possible before the next course arrived. “It was very fun listening to everyone try to remember and recite nursery rhymes,” Brandy shared.
What Brandy loves most about event planning is that every event is different. “With lots of details and inspirations, and I get to work with creative fun vendors and clients. Be creative and think outside the box. Make it your own by taking your favorite inspirations and adding in details that reflect the personality of the child or guest of honor. Pick three little details and focus on those. Make them extra special and they will standout to guests.” Thanks Brandy and Tiffany for sharing this gorgeous baby shower with us. And congratulations to Jennifer who welcomed daughter Sophia Catherine shortly after.
