Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Welcome Their Twins

It’s twins for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon! The 41-year-old singer gave birth to twins — a healthy boy and girl — on April 30, which just happened to be the pair’s fourth anniversary.

The baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds 3 ounces, followed by her brother, who is 5 pounds, 6 ounces. They have named the girl Monroe, after Marilyn Monroe, and the boy Moroccan.

Weighing 5lb 6oz and 5lb 3oz respectively, the kids were the perfect gift as far as Cannon was concerned. “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life!,” the new dad tweeted soon after the birth. “I won’t ever be able to top this!”

Carey popped at 12:07 pm on April 30 at an undisclosed hospital, her representative Cindi Berger confirmed.

While Carey and Cannon may be celebrities, they still made the types of labor hiccups that all parents make.
Berger said that Cannon went to the wrong department of the hospital and had to be led to the maternity ward by a nurse. “It was right out of an ‘I Love Lucy’ skit,” she said.

The happy dad might be even more delighted after predicting the exact date of his children’s birth last week. It is believed that the family listened to Mariah’s song We Belong Together after the birth, with the singer’s spokeswoman noting that the new mom had initially dismissed the beginning of her labor as stomach pains. The songstress’ other hits include Dreamlover, Hero and Any Time You Need A Friend.Check out the nursery the babies will be calling home!

Only a day old, the twins are getting major love from some of the biggest names in the business. Carey has been re-tweeting the well-wishes she’s received — and there are a lot.

“Congratulations Mariah & Nick!!!!!!!!!,” wrote a clearly excited Nicki Minaj. “The twins have finally landed on earth!!! Yaaayyyyy!!!!! @MariahCarey mmmuuuuaaahhhh!!!!!!”

From Carey’s longtime producer Jermaine Dupre: “CONGRATS!!! to Nick and @mariahcarey,on the birth of a baby girl and boy.”

“Congrats Mr and Mrs Cannon on ur twin babies!!,” wrote a member of the R&B group, Boyz II Men. “Look forward to sleepless nights for the next few weeks, trust me lol!”

Even fellow mommy-to-be Alyssa Milano sent the couple her love by re-tweeting their birth announcement and adding “Congrats!”
