The Candy Tree
Sweet Little Birdy

Sometimes you have to hold onto inspiration until the right moment. Tanya of The Candy Tree had wanted to do a bird’s nest theme party in specific colors for quite some time, so when her sister, Jodie, was pregnant, she knew just what the theme should be. “She was very sweet to agree to the theme and let me take over and choose everything!” It’s a good thing she did, because Tanya put together this amazing ‘Feather Her Nest’ baby shower party for her. Jodie knew she was having a boy, which gave Tanya the ability to style a party in the powder blue, chocolate and tan color scheme she had been wanting to do.
The backdrop of branches perfectly brought nature into the theme. Tanya’s business partner Aimee discovered them and they jumped at the chance to infuse them into the design. “They came flat and were just perfect for the backdrop,” Tanya said. “I simply leaned them against the fabric backdrop and pinned them at the top to stay in place. I love how they add a rustic feel without being too cluttered. The birdcage was a simple, but stylish centerpiece!”
The fabric garland running across the table was one of Tanya’s favorite elements. This beautiful DIY project enhanced the dessert table with decoration, complimented the chocolate treats and highlighted the eggs topping the chocolate flavored bird’s nest cupcakes. “I think it really finishes off the table and pulls all the colors together! And now that the party is over, Jodie can use it to decorate babies room!”

Other yummy goodies on the dessert buffet included Cadbury chocolate-mint marshmallow eggs, chocolate-filled wafer sticks (“assembled to resemble a bird’s nest”), chocolate-dipped oreos, and even popcorn.
As an activity, Jodie’s guests participated in crafts for the new baby boy. “We created appliqués on onesies, bibs and singlets,” Tanya said. “Baby will have no shortage of new outfits! So simple, but so lovely and personal!”
As favors guests received chocolate coconut nests and chocolate bird eggs wrapped in cellophane and finished with ribbon and a personalized thank you tag. We’re happy to report that Jodie gave birth to a beautiful baby Ethan on March 20. Thanks Tanya for sharing this beautiful baby shower with us!
