Young and the restless actress Michelle Stafford is pregnant via surrogateMichelle Stafford has won two Emmys for playing Phyllis Summers on “Young and the Restlesss.” But the 43-year-old actress wanted something more than awards, she wanted to be a real life mom. Now Stafford has announced that her wish is coming true; she is expecting a baby girl by a surrogate this Decemeber.

Like many other women, Michelle had difficulties getting pregnant. In a statement she said, “After a three-year journey through hell, I’m elated, ecstatic and feel ultimately lucky to be able to announce I’m expecting my own child via surrogate in December.”

The actress has always wanted a family, and even though she is single, she decided to start the process on her own. “This entire process has been very, very difficult to do on my own and has made me realize the importance and reason for a partner,” she said.

Michelle’s journey has indeed been difficult. Using prominent fertility specialist Dr. Buylos, she underwent artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization and each time it did not work. She finally decided on surrogacy as an option, and turned to agency Fertility Miracles for help. “I never wavered in my desire to be a mother, but I did waiver on aspects of the process. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” said Michelle.

With so much stress and hardship in the past, the actress looks forward to meeting her new daughter. Her good friend Kirstie Alley even plans on hosting the baby shower. Michelle is also still searching for Mr. Right. “Dating men and telling them I’m expecting in December is a little different. I know I just need to find someone who wants the same things as I do.”
