Olympic Star Kerri Walsh Introduces Her Baby to the Beach Volleyball World

Kerri Walsh, the Olympic gold medalist in beach volleyball, gave birth to her first son Joseph Michael Jennings two months ago. Over the weekend, he attended his dad, Casey Jenning’s AVP tour stop in Southern California. It was the beach volleyball prince’s first public outing in his parents’ kingdom.

Walsh, 30, said she will return to action Aug. 7 in Hermosa Beach with new partner Rachel Wacholder, as Misty May-Treanor continues her yearlong sabbatical and recovers from a torn Achilles’ tendon she suffered on “Dancing With The Stars.”

Joey was born May 22. Said Walsh: “I thought I’d take a full year off, I really did. It’s silly, because I knew I’d get the itch to play. I always get it around December. Even though I was pregnant, I still got it in December.”

She added that with family and friends willing to travel, the plan is “to have it all — have this baby and bring him around the world, and do it as a team, Casey and I.”

As for motherhood, Walsh said, “Awesome, it’s so awesome — except for the fact that I’m late everywhere I go, which is a first for me.”
