Popular online sports bookie, Paddypower.com are renowned for offering some unusual novelty betting markets, and their latest is also rather interesting! ‘Who’s the Daddy?’ While the world was shocked last week when Alfie Patten, a baby-faced 13-year-old was announced as the yountest male to father a child with his 15-year-old girlfriend Chantelle Steadman, they were more shocked when several other teenagers came forward claiming paternal rights.
As a result the ‘who’s the daddy?’ market has been created by bookmaker Paddy Power. The Bookie has added the controversial betting odds to the novelty section of its site, and despite the claims is making Alfie favourite to be named the father, priced at 1/2. They go 1-5 it’s Alfie’s and 3-1 it’s not.
Either way, all bets are off as a judge has imposed a media blackout on the story. Reporting restrictions are increasingly common in Britain where judges can impose blanket bans on publishing details of cases. Alfie’s publicist, Max Clifford, said the situation was strange. “No one is allowed to say anything new,” he said.
